Direct answer

The school examinations officer is the first stop. WAEC does not retrieve index numbers via a MoMo shortcode. Fake “index recovery” sites steal money.

BECE — Ghana 2026

Written for parents with a checker SMS but no index. Buy authorised checkers on Ewale *714*22# when you need a voucher. Check only on WAEC’s official portals.

Vital context for “lost BECE index number”

Index is assigned at registration. Admission letters, mock scripts, and school lists have it. A checker without index cannot be used.

BECE checker facts that actually matter

A BECE result checker is a Serial Number + 10-digit PIN. It is not the index number. The index number identifies the candidate; the checker is the key that unlocks the portal. Official check: eresults.waecgh.org. WASSCE’s site will reject a BECE voucher.

WAEC Ghana typically allows three successful views per voucher. Screenshot and save a PDF on the first clean load. CSSPS SHS placement uses these grades later — a lost PIN in a class WhatsApp group burns a use and exposes the child.

Buy a BECE checker on Ewale

  1. Dial *714*22# → 5 Results Vouchers → 1 BECE.
  2. Self or Other. Quantity 1–80 for a school or family.
  3. Confirm the live GHS (often GH₵24 per voucher) and approve MoMo.
  4. Save the SMS. Then open eresults.waecgh.org with index, serial, PIN, and the correct year.

Advice that actually helps

Call the JHS today. If the school is closed, check old photos of registration forms. Private candidates: the registration printout. Do not tag random WAEC staff on Facebook.

The expensive mistake: Paying GH₵30 for an app that “guesses” index numbers.

After the grades are on the screen

Once recovered, write it in two places. Check the portal once. Save PDF.

  • Search your phone for “BECE” photos from registration day.
  • Siblings’ indexes are not interchangeable.
  • Buy the checker after you have the index, or buy now and wait to check.

Protect the child and the voucher

  • Do not paste Serial + PIN in a class or church group.
  • Do not pay a site that is not eresults.waecgh.org (or the matching official WAEC Ghana property).
  • Do not buy a second voucher until you have re-typed the first SMS and confirmed the exam type and year.
  • Schools should not harvest student PINs “for the office file.” The three uses belong to the candidate.

Stuck after a real debit? Ewale support with the MoMo reference. WAEC grading disputes go to WAEC Ghana, not Ewale.
