One checkout for DStv and GOtv wallets
You can pay DStv and GOtv (both MultiChoice Ghana) with MTN Mobile Money or Telecel Cash without an agent. Ewale *714*22# opens the same TV-bills menu on any GSM network; the MoMo prompt follows the SIM you dial from. AT Money works the same way on an AT line.
DStv uses a smartcard number. GOtv uses an IUC. Mixing them is the usual failed lookup. Find DStv: smartcard guide. Find GOtv: IUC guide.
Pay with MTN MoMo
- Dial
*714*22#from the MTN line that holds the wallet. - Choose TV bills (or Pay Bills) → DStv or GOtv.
- Enter the smartcard or IUC with no spaces. Confirm the customer name.
- Select the package or renewal amount shown. The live GHS on screen is what MultiChoice is charging today — not a screenshot from last year.
- Approve the MTN MoMo prompt with your PIN.
- Keep the SMS. Reboot the decoder after 5–15 minutes if channels stay locked.
*170# → MoMoPay can also reach DStv, but the menu is longer. Ewale is the short path when you already know the card number.
Pay with Telecel Cash
- Dial
*714*22#from a Telecel SIM (porting matters more than a 020 prefix). - Same TV bills → DStv or GOtv → number → package.
- Approve Telecel Cash (the prompt is the wallet behind
*110#on Telecel).
You do not need the paying wallet to match the decoder. A Telecel Cash payer can renew a DStv in Kumasi from Accra. The token of value is the subscription on that smartcard/IUC, not the phone number.
Online without USSD
If you have data or Wi-Fi, use Ewale services and pick the TV biller. Same MoMo OTP. Use USSD when the decoder is off and you also have no data.
After payment — E16 still on screen
Payment success is not instant picture. MultiChoice must entitle the card. Wait, unplug the decoder for 60 seconds, reseat the smartcard. If E16/E30/E48 remain, see error codes E16, E30, E48. Do not pay twice until you confirm the first MoMo debit.
